Step 1, we utilize graph paper for the initial design to establish the bowl's shape, diameter, and height, the shape influences the segment width.
Step 2, Determine the qty of materials required, we use excel to do the calculations for the segment lengths that need to be cut as well as rough L/M of each material
Step 3, deciding what wood species will work together is an important decision, we don't want hardwoods mixed with softer woods as this makes it harder to turn on the lathe.
Step 4, Cutting segments now we have our wood milled we can now cut the segments to the excel chart
Step5, sand all segments to remove any splinters or foreign matter that could affect the gluing, we then get to glue all the segments together and secure with some large rubber bands.
